Adoption

How to Get Started
If you are interested in adopting a Pug from PRoNE the first step is to complete an adoption application. You may do this by by completing an online adoption application or by contacting an authorized PRoNE application coordinator.
When completing your adoption application, please keep in mind that many Pugs act far younger than their years and that the average life span of a pug is 12-14 years or more. What may be considered a "senior" in a lager breed is not the same for Pugs, who often play and walk energetically well past the age of 10. Won't you give an older Pug a chance?

Adoption Fees
PRoNE charges a fee of $10.00 to process each adoption application.
This is a non-refundable fee and is not part of the adoption fee. The application fee ensures that our prospective applicants are as dedicated to the rescue process as we are. Reviewing applications is very important and time consuming and our volunteers take the process seriously. You will receive a call from a PRoNE adoption coordinator within one to two weeks of the date your application and fee are received.
Our adoption fees range from $150 - $350 depending on the age of the dog. The occasional puppy in PRoNE may require a higher adoption fee as well as a spay/neuter deposit or contract.
Our Adoptable Pugs
Some of our adoptable pugs can be found on Petinder.com, however, Pugs come in and go out quickly and it is not always possible to post them. Realize too, that while we will consider requests to adopt a specific dog, that we will match you to an appropriate dog based on many factors, including your preferences and lifestyle. We are unable to predict how long you will wait for a Pug to be matched to your family. PRoNE does not place our rescued Pugs on a first come/first served basis. Instead pugs are placed into an appropriate home where the pug's and adopter's needs match each other.
As a general rule, few puppies less than one year old are surrendered. If you wish to adopt a puppy, we suggest that you check out the Patriot Pug Dog Club website: patriotpugdogclub.org or other Pug Club sites and look for a breeder referral link, where you will be given the names of one or more breeders where you may be able to purchase a puppy.
We adopt our Pugs *only* to applicants who have undergone the phone interview or online application and telephone follow up process and are on the waiting list. You must be on the waiting list to qualify to adopt a Pug.
